We recommend using a bank draft (ACH) whenever possible, as it is free of charge. Payments made by credit or debit card will include processing fees charged by the payment provider. After submitting your payment, please save or screenshot your confirmation number for your records.

ESTIMATED TAX PAYMENTS

Here are detailed instructions for paying online, which I recommend as you get a receipt for the payment.

  • Select Pay
  • Select Bank Account (Direct Pay)
  • Select Make a Payment
  • Choose Pay Individual Tax
  • Apply payment to: Form 1040 – Income Tax
  • Reason for payment: Estimated Tax Payment
  • Tax period: 2026
  • Select Continue
  • Verify identity
  • Enter bank information
  • Submit

Note: Use the primary taxpayer’s Social Security number for married filing jointly.

North Carolina Estimated Payment www.ncdor.gov

  • Select File and Pay
  • Select Individual Income Estimated Tax (NC-40)
  • Enter:
    • Name
    • Email
    • Phone number
  • Select Next
  • Enter filing details and status
  • Select Bank Draft (ACH)
  • Enter bank information
  • Submit

  • Select Make a Payment (under Payments & Refunds)
  • Choose payment type:
    • Individual Income Tax
  • Enter taxpayer info
  • Select Estimated Payment
  • Enter payment details
  • Choose payment method and enter info:
    • Bank draft (ACH)
    • Credit/debit card
  • Submit & save confirmation
